The SUPERINTENDENT WILLIE E. SHEARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP was created to assist members of 1st Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Michigan Southwest/ W.E. Sheard Memorial District (WESMD) - Church of God in Christ in post-secondary education.  District Chairman, Elder Willie Foster was inspired to develop the program to honor our beloved Superintendent following his demise on April 10, 2014.

The objective of the program is as follows:

  • To honor the memory of our beloved Superintendent.
  • To encourage members of WESMD to seek the Lord in their educational endeavors.
  • To enable member students to work toward their post-secondary education by providing financial assistance.
  • To acknowledge the efforts of the students through a presentation to the congregation.
  • To motivate other young people to seek a higher education by the example that the awardees exhibit.
  • To provide a constant reminder of the love for our Superintendent that led to the establishing of this scholarship.

Special offerings are solicited and accepted from members or friends that would like to contribute to the scholarship program.  Checks can be sent to:  W.E.Sheard Memorial District - Superintendent Willie E. Sheard Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Grace Fellowship COGIC  1301 South Harris Rd. Ypsilanti, MI  48198.
